What does a newborn baby need?
The first three months after birth are usually called the fourth trimester. The baby, who has lived nine months in a warm and safe place close to the mother's heartbeat, will now become familiar with a new big world. One recommendation is therefore to have the baby skin-to-skin as much as possible so that your newborn baby's need for closeness is satisfied. At Geggamoja, we think that a baby wrap is a real lifesaver during the first few days. It may be that the baby does not want to sleep at all in the cozy crib that you have arranged so nicely. Instead, let the newborn lie close to or maybe even on a parent where the warmth and heartbeat are.
Since you are reading this guide, we assume that you are expecting or have recently had an addition to your family - congratulations! Although you cannot predict the behavior and desires of the new family member, it is nice to have some things in place when the family gets bigger, mainly to avoid having to organize everything when the baby has just been welcomed into the world. We at Geggamoja naturally want to help you along the way in getting to know and taking care of the new addition to the family. As a help on the way, this guide highlights what we believe a newborn baby needs.
Clothing tips & advice
Clothes are a must for your newborn. Check out our checklist below for guidance on what types of clothing and how much to buy for your baby. Focus on soft and organic materials, but also think practically and choose what you like in terms of quality and design.
We at Geggamoja love and can highly recommend our bamboo pajamas . They are incredibly soft, while bamboo is a natural material without chemicals that is perfect for baby's skin. The most popular and smart feature of our zip pajamas is its two-way zipper, a convenient solution that simplifies diaper changes. In the early days, many people also prefer to use a bodysuit in a wrap model. This is mainly to avoid pulling the garment over the newborn baby's head. Outdoors, the child should wear a cap or sun hat on his head to protect against cold and sun - preferably during the entire first year!
What size should I buy for my newborn baby?
You never know how small or big your baby will be when they are born. We have preemie clothes for premature or very small babies from size 40. We generally recommend size 50/56 for newborns. Geggamoja's clothes are normal size or bordering on slightly roomy in size.
