Our responsibility—from fiber to future 

At Geggamoja, we want to create clothes that children can play, explore, and grow in—without compromising our care for people, animals, and the planet. To us, sustainability is not a buzzword, but a natural part of every decision we make. From how we draw our first sketches to how we deliver the garments to your home, we make conscious choices to reduce our impact and extend the life of every garment. 

 

Design thoughtfully 

We believe in clothes that last. Our baby garments grow with the child thanks to smart cuffs and button solutions, and coveralls can be lengthened as the legs grow. Colors, patterns, and fits are timeless so they can be loved, used, and passed on—again and again. 

 

Materials we can stand behind 

At least 80% of our materials already come from sustainable sources—the goal is to reach 100%. We choose fabrics that are gentle on children’s skin and made with respect for the planet’s resources. 

We comply with EU chemicals legislation REACH and regularly test our products to rule out harmful substances such as phthalates, heavy metals, and hazardous dyes. We also comply with the POP Regulation, which means we avoid persistent chemicals such as PFAS and certain flame retardants. With us, you should never have to worry about environmental toxins near your children. 

 

Human-centered production 

We work with around ten carefully selected suppliers in six countries—many of them family businesses, just like us. Our choice is never based on the country, but on expertise, quality, and transparency. All our partners follow Geggamoja’s Code of Conductbased on international guidelines for human rights, working conditions, and social responsibility. 

Several are also certified according to SA8000 and affiliated with amfori BSCI or work according to ISO 26000. We visit the factories regularly and maintain close dialogue to ensure that our values are genuinely upheld – not just on paper. 

To reduce waste, we make use of leftover fabric and create new products from scraps. Many of our factories also use renewable energy, such as solar panels, to reduce emissions from production. 

 

Shipping, packaging & consideration 

We primarily choose sea and land transport to keep emissions down and use shipping bags made from recycled plastic. Our third-party warehouse consolidates deliveries to avoid unnecessary transport. 

 

Together, we make a difference 

We want to make it easy for you as a parent to make conscious choices. On our website, you will find guides about sizes,  about functionality and packing lists for the maternity ward – all to reduce wrong purchases and returns - something that is good for both the environment and for you as a customer. 

Once the garment has left us, you can contribute by choosing environmentally friendly shipping, washing it gently, repairing it when needed, and giving it a new life through siblings, friends, or second-hand. Sustainability is a team effort – together we can make a difference for children and the future.

Clothing with this label is treated with Bionic-Finish® Eco – an environmentally friendly and water-repellent impregnation free from fluorocarbons (PFC).

The treatment makes the garment resistant to rain and dirt, while maintaining its softness and breathability. A practical and more lasting choice for active days.

Clothing with this label is certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 – one of the world’s best-known labels for textiles tested against harmful substances. The certification means that every part of the garment, from fabric and thread to buttons and zippers, is carefully checked. This way, you can be confident that the garment is safe to wear, even close to sensitive skin.

GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)

Garments with this label are certified according to GOTS (CU8636946), the leading standard for organic textiles. The certification covers the entire chain – from organically grown fibers to environmentally friendly processes and social responsibility. A GOTS-labeled garment is better for both the environment, those who make it, and you who wear it.

Bamboo Choice.

Our bamboo garments are made from a soft and durable blend of bamboo, organic cotton, and a small amount of elastane for extra comfort. The combination makes the fabric silky smooth, flexible, and gentle on the skin – perfect even for sensitive skin. The production takes place in an OEKO-TEX®-certified
factory, which guarantees that the garments are free from harmful substances and safe to wear.

Pima Cotton
Garments made from Pima Cotton consist of one of the world's softest and most exclusive cotton qualities. Pima is known for its extra-long fibers that make the fabric silky smooth, durable, and gentle on the skin.

The result is garments that feel luxuriously soft, retain their shape longer, and are especially comfortable for sensitive skin. A natural choice for those seeking both comfort and lasting quality.

Pure Merino Wool - Woolmark

Garments bearing this label are made of 100% merino wool and certified by Woolmark – one of the world’s most well-known marks for wool. The certification guarantees that the wool meets high standards of quality, performance, and purity. A naturally soft, warming, and breathable material that provides lasting comfort and durability.

Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)

This garment is made from wool certified according to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). The certification ensures that the sheep have been treated with good animal welfare, that the land is managed in a sustainable way, and that the wool is traceable throughout the entire supply chain. With RWS, you can feel confident that the garment is a more responsible choice – for the animals, the environment, and you who wear it.

Organic Choice

This symbol stands for Organic cotton – grown without chemical pesticides and artificial fertilizers. It is better for the environment, for the farmers, and for the person wearing the garment. Organic cotton is soft, durable, and a more mindful choice for the future.

Re-Cycled

Garments with this label are partly made from reused materials – a choice that conserves the earth’s resources and reduces waste. By reusing existing fibres and materials, both energy use and environmental impact are lowered. The result is garments of the same high quality, but with a more lasting footprint for the future.



Questions and Answers

  • Yes, we want our children's clothes to be as kind to the world as they are to the child's skin.

    That is why many of our garments are made from organic cotton and certified according to GOTS and OEKO-TEX® – which means the cotton is grown without harmful chemicals and every step in the production is carried out with care for both the environment and people. A safe and lasting choice for children and the earth.

  • No, our clothes are made with care and carefully tested to be safe even for the very youngest.

    Many are certified according to OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 and GOTS, and we follow the EU's chemical legislation REACH as well as the POP regulation that bans harmful substances such as phthalates and PFAS. You can feel confident that our garments are kind to both children and the earth.


  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is the most recognized worldwide label for organic textiles.

    A GOTS-certified garment contains at least 70% organically grown fibers and has been made with care for both the environment and people. The standard sets high demands on everything from chemical use and water purification to working conditions and traceability throughout the entire production chain. Geggamoja is proudly GOTS-certified with license number CU8636946.

  • We are constantly working to reduce our climate impact – from how we choose materials to how we design and produce our garments. We focus on organic cotton, recycled materials and sustainable surface treatments such as BIONIC-FINISH® ECO, which is free from PFAS.
