Clothes for outdoor play

Who doesn't remember the first day of school - that fluttery feeling in the stomach and the anticipation of something new? This is not only a big day for the children but also for the parents. The start of school requires some preparations: What clothing does your child need? Should my child have shell clothes or rain clothes? How many clothes are needed on the shelf as extra garments?

It is desirable that your child is dressed so that they feel warm and dry throughout the day. However, this should be at the same time as the child should be able to run around and play freely. Shell clothes are one of our favorite garments and a strong recommendation before the start of school. A pair of shell pants are easy for the child to put on and protect against both moisture and wind. With a shell jacket that can easily be complemented with a fleece sweater or zip jacket for extra warmth, your little one is ready for all kinds of outdoor play. If it is warm outside, it is enough for your child to only wear the zip jacket; if it rains, they put on the shell jacket, and when it gets cold, the child should wear both. Feel free to read more about how we think about the layering principle.

It is not only for your child's sake that it is good to be well prepared regarding clothes before the start of school. It also makes it easier for the educators at the preschool as there are always clothes suitable for the weather. They have many children to keep track of, and it is not fun if a child cannot participate in outdoor play just because a hat is lost or pants are soaking wet.

Checklist - outerwear for the start of school

- Winter overall
- Shell jacket and shell pants
- Fleece jacket/fleece set
- Rain clothes / Galon clothes - lined & unlined
- Mittens, both thin and thick
- Hat according to season
- Base layer
- Wool socks
- Rubber boots
- Shoes according to season

Tips: Mark your child's clothes with a marker or name tags. This makes it easier for everyone to keep track of all clothing items. Mitten holders may also be worth investing in so that your child's mittens don't get lost and run away.

Clothes for indoor play

Comfortable and soft garments that children can move freely in are the guiding principle for clothing choices for indoor play. They should also preferably be garments that are comfortable for children to wear under shell garments or rainwear. At school, however, you don't need as many garments on the shelf as in preschool, but it's always good to be one step ahead.

All our clothes in the Classic Collection are beloved garments that always come back. The zip jackets, sweatpants, dresses, socks, and of course our hats. We are also proud of our bamboo collection - where you can find your favorites among our soft and colorful garments. Bamboo is an extremely soft and durable material alternative for children's clothing, which, like wool, warms in cold and cools in heat.
