What is a sleeping bag?
A sleeping bag is a garment that your baby wears when they are sleeping/resting. It looks like pajamas with short or long sleeves and has a wide opening at the bottom. A sleeping bag can be used instead of a duvet or blanket when your baby is sleeping.
Benefits of using a sleeping bag
+ A sleeping bag helps your baby maintain a good and even body temperature throughout the night. This is mainly because your baby cannot kick it off.
+ You don't need to have a duvet or blanket lying in bed. This means you don't have to worry about your child getting tangled up and getting the duvet over their face.
+ You don't have to worry about your child freezing.
+ A sleeping bag makes diaper changes easier. We have both sleeping bags with elastic at the bottom and those with a zipper at the front and snaps at the bottom, which means you don't have to wake your child up when it's time to change a diaper.
+ It is easy to move freely, without, for example, a blanket getting in the way.
+ A sleeping bag contributes to a cozier and safer sleep because the sleeping bag embraces your child.

What does TOG value mean?
TOG value is a unit of measurement used to describe the level of insulation or thermal efficiency of sleeping bags and duvets. This system is mainly used in countries such as the UK, Australia and New Zealand. The TOG value is measured in the unit "TOG" and ranges from 2 to 15 or more, with higher TOG values indicating better insulation and therefore more warmth. Here is a general guide to understanding TOG values:
- Low TOG value (for example 1.0 TOG or lower): Suitable for warm and summer nights. These sleeping bags or quilts have less insulation and are suitable for warm climates or warm indoor environments.
- Medium TOG value (approximately 1.0 to 2.5 TOG): Suitable for spring and fall when temperatures are mild to cool. These sleeping bags provide moderate insulation and warmth.
- High TOG rating (3 TOG or higher): Ideal for cold winter months and cold climates, these sleeping bags or blankets offer a lot of insulation and warmth.
TOG value of Geggamoja's sleeping bags
Our sleeping bags have a TOG value of 0.3 - 0.4. This means they are more like pajamas and not as insulating as a duvet. During the colder months we recommend adding a duvet or blanket.
For autumn and winter we have sleeping bags with a TOG value of 2.
How long can a baby use a sleeping bag?
Geggamoja sleeping bags can be used by your baby from birth until your child is 18 months old. During your baby's first year, we recommend that your child sleeps in a sleeping bag to reduce the risk of the blanket covering their face and head. A sleeping bag is perfect for using in the stroller, crib or as an extra layer on top of a bodysuit and a pair of baby pants for extra warmth and a huggable feeling.
