Our Sustainable Work

Vårt Hållbara arbete

Our responsibility from fiber to the future

At Geggamoja, we believe in creating clothes for children that are both sustainable and considerate of people, animals and the environment at every step. Our work with a responsible production chain is not just about following laws and regulations – it’s about actively making wise choices, every day, from design to delivery. We strive to minimize our footprint and maximize the lifespan of each garment.

Design with thought

Each collection starts with longevity in mind. Our baby clothes grow with your child thanks to flexible cuff and button solutions, and overalls can be extended with simple adjustments. The color choices, patterns and cuts are timeless, to be worn, loved and passed down.

Materials we can provide

At least 80% of our materials come from sustainable sources – and the goal is 100%. We choose textiles that are kind to your child’s skin and that are produced with respect for the earth’s resources.

We comply with the EU chemicals legislation REACH, which prohibits and restricts substances that can cause allergies, hormone disruption or other health risks. This applies to phthalates in printing and plastics, heavy metals in buttons and dangerous dyes, for example. We regularly test our products to ensure they meet the standards.

We also work in accordance with the POP Regulation, the EU's regulatory framework that prohibits particularly hazardous, persistent chemicals that can harm people and the environment – such as PFAS and certain flame retardants. With us, you never have to worry about environmental toxins around your children.

Production with people at the center

We work with about ten suppliers in six different countries, and most of them are family businesses just like us. We choose our partners carefully – not based on which country they are located in, but on the expertise, quality and transparency they offer.

All our suppliers work in line with our high standards for human rights, working conditions and social responsibility. They follow Geggamoja's Code of Conduct, which is based on ILO conventions, the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Some of our partners are also certified according to standards such as SA8000, while others are affiliated with initiatives such as amfori BSCI or work according to internationally recognized guidelines such as ISO 26000. BSCI is a system for improving working conditions through audits and monitoring, and ISO 26000 provides guidance on how companies take responsibility for human rights, working conditions, the environment and ethics. Regardless of the path, all our suppliers work systematically and long-term with social responsibility, fair conditions and transparency.

Our collaborations are based on mutual respect and a long-term perspective – we visit the factories regularly and have a close dialogue to ensure that our values are adhered to in practice.

To reduce our environmental impact, we recycle leftover fabric from production and create new, unique products from waste materials. Many of our factories use renewable energy, such as solar cells, to reduce emissions from production.

We know that it's not enough to just talk about sustainability – we want to demonstrate it in every choice we make. This applies to both the child's health and the future we all share.

Shipping, packaging and care

We use mostly sea and land transport to keep emissions down, and our transport bags are made from recycled plastic. Our third-party warehouse coordinates deliveries to reduce empty shipments.

Our guides

We want to make it easy for you as a parent to make informed and safe choices. That's why we've put together guides to help you find the right one – whether you're wondering about size, function or what to pack in your baby carrier.

On our website you will find size guides and clear product images for our entire range. This makes it easier to choose the right one from the start and reduces the need for returns – which is good for both the environment and you as a customer.

After the garment leaves us

We hope that you as a customer will help. Choose environmentally friendly shipping, wash gently, repair when necessary, and give the garment a new life by selling, donating or recycling it. Sustainability is a team effort.

Our vision for 2030

We want to be Sweden's most environmentally conscious children's clothing company. By choosing the right things from the start, collaborating with responsible producers and constantly seeking smarter materials and methods, we do our very best to ensure that your child's clothes have as little impact as possible.

Thank you for shopping with care.

Questions and Answers

  • Yes, many of our children's clothes are made from organic cotton and certified according to GOTS and OEKO-TEX®.

This means that the material is grown without chemical pesticides and that the entire production takes place with consideration for the environment and social conditions. Our organic garments are extra gentle on the child's sensitive skin - a safe choice for both children and the planet.

  • No, our products are thoroughly tested and many are OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certified.

This means that every button, thread and piece of fabric is tested for over 300 harmful substances. You can therefore feel confident that our clothes are safe to wear – even for the littlest ones.

  • GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) is one of the most comprehensive certifications for organic textiles.

When a garment is GOTS certified, it means that at least 70% of the fiber is organic and that every step – from raw material to finished product – meets strict requirements for the environment, health and working conditions. Geggamoja is certified with license number CU8636946.

  • We continuously work to reduce our environmental impact through sustainable material choices, smart design and responsible production.

We use organic cotton, recycled materials and water-repellent BIONIC-FINISH® ECO, which is free of PFAS, among other things. We also strive for a long lifespan for each garment – so that they can be inherited, loaned and used again.
