GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation)

The new law, GPSR (General Product Safety Regulation), is a regulation that aims to increase the safety and transparency of consumer products within the EU.

From 13/12 - 24, the GPSR replaces the previous General Product Safety Directive (GPSD). The regulation contains stricter requirements for safety standards and product information to protect consumers and provide them with more transparency.

What does GPSR mean in practice?

  • Better product traceability: All products covered by GPSR must be clearly labeled with the information required to be able to trace manufacturers and distributors.
  • Higher safety standards: GPSR requires that all products be safe to use under normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions.
  • More consumer information: Customers should be able to easily access relevant information about the product, including any warnings and safety instructions.
  • Digital product information: For some products, it will be possible to supplement physical labeling with digital information via QR codes or similar technologies.
  • Faster handling of hazardous products: GPSR is introducing new procedures to more quickly identify and address products that may pose a risk to consumers.
