What is GOTS certified cotton?
Geggamoja is today one of about 40 companies in Sweden that are GOTS Certified. Our certificate number is CU-number 836946.
GOTS is the most recognized certification of organically grown cotton. GOTS sets requirements for the entire production process, cultivation, harvesting, manufacturing and packaging. GOTS also includes social rules and requirements for all people included in the chain regarding, for example, the working environment, wages, working hours and child labor.
Dyes must be approved by GOTS and chlorine bleaching is not allowed. Factories must also ensure that there is functioning water purification and a policy for handling waste products. The finished garment must not contain any substances hazardous to health. Packaging materials for a GOTS garment must not contain PVC. Paper and cardboard must be recycled according to FSC or PEFC certification. Annual independent inspections are carried out for companies that are GOTS certified.
In order for a company to use the GOTS logo on your clothing, GOTS requires that you undergo their certification. GEGGAMOJA is one of the few Swedish children's clothing companies that has a certification from GOTS.
